How far can you go on your mobility scooter?

Manufacturers offer some wildly optimistic guidelines as to the mileage their products can be expected to achieve. However there are many factors which will influence the mileage you will get from your vehicle, such as the condition of the batteries, how much weight the vehicle is carrying, the type of terrain you cover, tyre pressures and even the weather, (mobility scooter or powerchair batteries perform better in warm weather than in the cold).

When a manufacturer states that a particular scooter will go “up to 20 miles” they are quoting the maximum mileage under the standard test conditions! They are not referring to the mileage you can realistically obtain riding your machine.

It is better to err on the side of caution when estimating how far you can go on a fully charged battery than to run out of power and find yourself stuck miles away from home!
