Car and van conversions are also available for people who wish to drive their car or van without transferring from their wheelchair into the driver's seat and then having to store their wheelchair somewhere in the vehicle. Again access is usually gained via a lift and the wheelchair is secured to the floor of the vehicle using a clamping system.

Please note: Securing the wheelchair to the floor of a vehicle will not ensure your safety. You must also use either a separate seatbelt or a harness on your person to secure you to the chair.
