What type of car is ideal?
If you are planning to buy a "car boot scooter" to lift in and out of the boot of your car then virtually all types of cars are suitable for this purpose. Unfortunately all types of people are not suitable to ride a small folding scooter. If you are 5'2inches tall, weigh 7 stones, can bend your knees and have no back ailments or injuries then a small folding "car boot scooter" may well be ideal for you. But if you are so small and light in weight then who is going to lift your scooter in and out of your car for you?
If you are 6 feet tall and weigh 20 stones then you will probably have no difficulty in lifting a small car boot scooter in and out of the back of your car. Unfortunately that scooter will be of no use to you as you will not fit on it. If this is the case then you must buy a scooter which is in keeping with your size and weight.
Having selected the ideal machine for your own size and weight you will need to buy an estate car or people carrier into which it will fit. Ordinary saloon cars and hatchbacks are normally a waste of time to carry a large scooter - they simply won’t fit.
There are several ways to load your medium to large scooter into your estate car or people carrier: Please see Ramps, Hoists and Trailers page.
