Mobility Scooter or Powerchair?
Do I need a mobility scooter or an electric wheelchair (powerchair)?
Mobility Scooters - Can you walk a short distance, even with the aid of sticks, zimmer frame or crutches? If you currently get a lift to the shops with a friend or relative and then walk, albeit with some discomfort, around the shops yourself, the chances are you will be fine with a mobility scooter. You can then ride to the shop, park the scooter outside and leave it there till you’ve done your shopping. No more having to wait for the convenience of others! Take a look at the huge range of mobility scooters on offer, from tiny lightweight three-wheelers that fit into the boot of the smallest car, to large, solid four-wheelers which are capable of travelling greater distances over all kinds of terrain with the greatest degree of stability and comfort.
Powerchairs - Does standing or walking cause you great discomfort or pain? If you have just about given up walking altogether, you should be looking at powerchairs, for indoor and/or outdoor use. Powerchairs come in all shapes and sizes, and unless you are exceptionally knowledgeable, you may need a little help deciding which is the right one for you. If possible, have a friend or relative with you when visiting our showroom, or if one of our advisors is coming to your home to demonstrate a product. This may make you feel more comfortable and it is always good to have a second opinion!
